01The Story

GONGPATI returns with “Bagai Pungguk Merindukanmu”, their second single of 2026. With this 7-minute-14-second song, GONGPATI presents a work that feels personal, and at the same time is one of the longest musical explorations they have ever taken on.

Drawn from experiences that all five members have lived through, “Bagai Pungguk Merindukanmu” tells of a feeling that may be familiar to many: admiring someone from a distance, holding on to something that was never said, and slowly accepting that not everything we long for can be ours.

That feeling comes through in one of its lines:

“Jangan datang hanya untuk menyapa”“Aku tak sekuat itu untuk pura-pura”

Two simple lines that capture how complicated it is to face someone you have only ever been able to admire from afar. Even a greeting that looks ordinary can become something hard to face.

02Five Minds

Although each member has different experiences and ways of seeing things, an emotional closeness brought them together in this song. That closeness doesn't only live in the lyrics; it also grew throughout the creative process, from the first idea and the arrangement to the moment the song found its final form.

For GONGPATI, this song isn't only about someone who can't be had, but also about how five minds with different experiences can find the same feeling through music.

03Outro

Musically, “Bagai Pungguk Merindukanmu” gave GONGPATI room to try an approach different from their earlier work. They didn't hold the song to the structure or length usually used for a single. Instead, the arrangement was allowed to grow along with the emotional journey they wanted to convey.

That exploration carries all the way to the end of the song. Rather than closing right after the last chorus, GONGPATI gives the instruments more room to play off each other in a jam-like outro.

This section is one of the key elements of the whole composition. Once the lyrics have finished telling the story, the instruments take over and carry on the emotion left behind. Every part becomes a piece of a musical conversation that no longer needs words.

047:14

At 7 minutes 14 seconds, “Bagai Pungguk Merindukanmu” is GONGPATI's longest song so far. That length was never a target from the start; it came out of a creative process that gave the song room to grow naturally.

With this single, GONGPATI wants to keep opening up new possibilities in their music without leaving behind the character and honesty that are part of their journey as an independent band.

Because sometimes, there are feelings too long to resolve in a short song.
